Bid Writer / Technical Writer

We have an exciting opportunity for a construction person (construction manager, project manager, site manager) to make a step into tendering for a well-known specialist company. The role will be office based in the North West with some site visits across the UK.

This is an opportunity for an experienced construction person to make the move away from site based project working into a front end role shaping the quality offering for our clients. The right candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary, car/car allowance and great benefits package.

You will work as part of a dynamic team producing high quality methodology and programmes for delivering the work using your experience and knowledge. As well as methodology you will be writing content for prequalification and tender submissions and preparing submissions as directed.

Purpose of the role:

Support Bid team/Estimators as directed and produce high quality, well-structured written responses to Clients Requirements and agreed company solutions.

  • Liaise and work closely with all members of the Bid and Delivery teams and other areas of the business in developing and completing written responses for bids.
  • Identify key selling points and win themes for the project work based on site experience/knowledge.
  • Develop method for carrying out the works alongside the Estimators and support the price build up.
  • Provide appropriate inputs to prequalification and tender submissions as directed.
  • Attend bid team meetings, solution development workshops, story boarding sessions and peer reviews.
  • Provide support for the development and maintenance of internal bid processes as directed.
  • Challenge existing protocols and practices to continuously improve the bid process.
  • Post-bid, work with team to transform submission into content for potential re-use.
  • Carry out all duties and responsibilities in a manner that supports the Company Vision and Mission and Values.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver written responses for prequalification and tender submissions against agreed deadlines, in accordance with deliverables, escalating issues as required.
  • Generate written responses that are completed to a high/acceptable standard and are compliant, clear and customer focussed.
  • Develop bespoke, high quality method and programmes for delivery of the projects.
  • Provide inputs to the lessons learnt process from involvement with previous submissions.

Person Specification


Qualifications and training:

  • Excellent command of the English language – written and spoken
  • Competence in the use of all Microsoft packages
  • PTS/CSCS card
  • Construction degree desirable

Experience:

  • Proven experience of producing and editing written content for prequalification and tender submissions.
  • Experience of site delivery in regulated industries (rail, highways, local authority)
  • Experience of working in a team, participating in storyboarding sessions and key review meetings.
  • Experience of writing method statements for regulated industries
  • Experience of developing programmes for delivery of multi-disciplinary schemes
  • Knowledge of working with the highway and civil engineering clients or related industries would be desirable.
