M & E Quantity Surveyor


£45,000 - £50,000 + Package

Our client is a multi-faceted collection of like-minded businesses whose primary aim is to remove the speculation associated with development. They are a total facilities management solution enabling a seamless range of additional services post construction and for the life of the operational asset.

They are an operating division of a well-established family owned construction and services company providing comprehensive and customer-focused construction, fit-out, property and facilities management solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Produce & Price tenders for the M&E division following enquiries based on drawings and specification. This will include Site visits to review feasibility / scopes and to Scope potential schemes, with the subsequent production, submission and agreement of budgets and tenders
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the M&E projects from tender through to completion
  • Produce and present Cost Reports
  • Accurate and timely Commercial Reporting and presentation of reports
  • Manage procurement of mechanical plant and materials with suppliers and internal purchasing department
  • Prepare, submit and monitor valuations/applications, variations and final accounts with Client teams and consultants
  • Effective commercial control of all subcontract packages including provision of timely and accurate documentation.
  • Ensuring that payments / notices are issued in accordance with the subcontract and Construction Act and in particular, ensure any commercial threats to projects are identified swiftly and communicated to the Group Commercial Director.
  • Attending meetings as required (pre orders, design meetings, package review meetings).
  • Ensuring that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate and proficient manner.
  • Preparation and issuing of M&E sub-contract documentation to specialist supply chain, in a timely manner.
  • Review M&E designs In line with budgets.
  • Liaising with site personnel to obtain site records and reconciling against works claimed.
  • Keeping records and all documentation in line with company policies.


  • Must have a thorough knowledge of mechanical services and be able to break down package to labour, plant & materials
  • Have a good experience of mechanical and electrical services
  • Good use of Excel/Word, and Cost Control software packages
  • Experience on projects ranging from £100,000 to £5million


  • BSC Degree in Quantity Surveying or suitable Engineering subject
