The Company:

Our client are a reputable main contractor with a range of projects that include residential, commercial, industrial, education and leisure. This role will be to provide a Mechanical and Electrical engineering service across the business.

With several offices across the UK they require an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Manchester.

The Role:

The purpose of the role is to ensure commercial & contractual control and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the execution of a range of projects to maximise profitability and minimise risk.

Principally the role of the M&E Surveyor is will lead the commercial process on larger projects to ensure as far as applicable the company achieves its goals in terms of the business plan and potential growth.

The Senior Surveyor will assist in the procurement process to maximise the company's potential thus enabling delivery of construction projects within agreed budgetary restraints.

The Senior Surveyor will also maximise the company's potential in terms of variation recovery and cash flow on the projects that he/she is responsible for.

The Senior Surveyor will also provide contractual advice as and when required to the Operations Teams on the project that he/she is part of.

The Quantity Surveyor from time to time will be responsible for the production of the monthly CVR process as directed by the Surveying Manager.

Principally operating in the commercial construction markets on the following;

Negotiated projects ranging in value from £10m to £20m in all engineering disciplines.

Design and Build projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £5million in all engineering disciplines.

Competitive Projects ranging in value from c. £100,000 to £15m in all engineering disciplines.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare and Agree Monthly Applications for Payment with Client.

Prepare accurate and comprehensive monthly cost reports.

Manage the sub contract accounts, ensure payments are processed in a timely manner and all notices issued.

Following discussion with The Commercial Manager, Project Director and Regional Director if required ensure that all contractual notices and letters are put in place and all contractual procedures are followed.

Ensure that subcontract orders are professional, accurate, comprehensive and issued prior to commencement on site.

Ensure that all client variations are maximized, documented, priced and agreed at the earliest opportunity.

Ensure financial closure of projects by ensuring all costs and value are allocated correctly on the company's systems.

Communicate effectively with the project team.

Attend site meetings and visit site on a regular basis

Qualification / Technical skills / Experience / Knowledge

The following are essential requirements for the role:

Recognized qualification for Quantity Surveying at HND, BSC or equivalent.

Demonstrable experience in the surveying of medium and large scale construction projects.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to influence others.

Strong negotiation and decision making skills.
