Quantity Surveyor

Manchester / Cheshire

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a top regional contractor who work predominantly in the residential sector but also cover commercial and leisure too.

Role & Responsibilities:

·To be responsible for all financial aspects of the project

·Effective commercial control of all subcontract packages including

·Provision of timely and accurate documentation.

·Careful administration of subcontractor accounts.

·To place all subcontractor orders in good time and ensure that the procurement of sub-traders and suppliers is undertaken in a cost-effective manner.

·To meet every single subcontractor and carry a pre-order meeting with the PM and site manager

·To assist the site manager with general queries and pushing subcontractors

·To carry out fortnightly valuations and get certificates as quickly as possible

·To pick up and record all variations and report costs to the PQS on a regular basis

·Ensure any commercial threats to projects are identified swiftly and communicated to the Managing Director

·To carry out monthly cost reports accurately

·To finalise all Final accounts as quickly as possible, ideally before PC is achieved but no longer than 1 month after

·To attend weekly contract reviews with the site manager and PM on a regular basis

·To ensure all invoices are signed off on a weekly basis and passed to accounts

·To provide advice and organise samples and options for the client and quotes for new work / variations to the project

·To provide the site manager with RAMS for all subcontractors prior to them starting on site

·To attend site meetings and ensure that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate and proficient manner.

·To maximise the profit margin on all jobs – squeeze everything you can and push the costs down as much as you can

·Think of it as your money, would you spend £ x on this or £ y on that- question everything!
