Role Purpose / Overview

To work as part of the in house architectural design and delivery team comprising of an Architectural Design Manager and a number of Architectural Technologists.

Providing designs for a number of small to medium sized projects ranging from 500k - £5 Million, taken from concept through to construction. The projects are primarily in the sports and leisure sector with the team predominantly designing and delivering sports hall buildings with ancillary facilities.

You will utilise the BIM approach across a number of high profile projects using the latest technologies including Autodesk Revit.

You will be a confident communicator and have the ability to adapt to various challenges across a multitude of projects and have the ability to create and maintain good working relationships with the design & construction teams.

Compliance and achievement of Company project, procedures, personal targets and initiatives.

The goal is to ensure all construction project designs are completed to meet the company standards to achieve and exceed customer expectations to enable projects to be delivered on time and within budget.


Complete all design / delivery information drawings on time and as scheduled

Comply with all environmental, legal and regulatory issues, standards and procedures

Undertake tasks to ensure the most commercially viable approach to delivery, to minimise on site issues during construction and to minimise cost impact on projects.

Promote and maintain the highest standards of health and safety management.

To build and maintain good customer relationships with all stakeholders throughout each project

Maintain continuous professional development to ensure appropriate technical awareness to deliver to expectation

Provide feedback for continuous improvement

Provide Leadership on projects and mentor other team members to develop the skill sets of the team

Skills / Experience & Qualifications


A minimum of 5 years working in the industry post University degree or equivalent

Proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook etc.

Experience of using clash detection software and NBS


Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and other industry regulatory guidance

Experience in producing working drawings for tender and construction with capability of producing technical 1:10 details

Relevant site experience with a solid understanding how main contractors operate

Strong technical knowledge with good organisational skills


Capable of reading and accurately interpreting drawings and technical specifications with experience of reviewing and commenting on subcontractors drawings

Understand the importance of sequencing and best practice construction methods

Strong understanding of construction detailing with a portfolio identifying strong technical ability

Experience of delivering projects utilising a BIM approach


Experience of project leadership with examples of leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams

Capability of dealing directly with Clients to meet and exceed aspirations

Ability to form and maintain good proactive working relationships

Capable of supporting senior management within the team in the delivery of schemes seeing projects through from inception to completion

Academic Essential

Minimum HNC / HND / BSC Full Honours or equivalent

Professional Desirable

Associate member of CIAT working towards MCIAT
